The Parent Leadership Hub supports parents/family members, educators and other community partners to build capacity regarding meaningful family involvement. The Hub serves three primary purposes:
(1) To support parents of children with disabilities between birth and 26 years of age to participate as partners in the professional development activities of each of the other Statewide Initiatives as they design, deliver and support professional development experiences
(2) To facilitate opportunities for parents/family members to build leadership skills (3) To provide Content Focused technical assistance concerning family involvement

The Department of Public Instruction through the Wisconsin Statewide Transition Initiative (WSTI) and the Department of Health Services through their Healthy Transitions Initiative are pleased to announce their co-sponsorship of this new academy. Keynote presenter is Dr. Richard Van Acker on Preventing Challenging Behaviors, Proactive Strategies. This will be followed by three sectional blocks on various topics related to mental health. Target audience includes: special education teachers, administrators, transition coordinators, school psychologists, and mental health professionals. WI FACETS is hosting a FREE self-advocacy, college options workshop this Tuesday for transition aged youth, their families, educators and service providers. Participants will learn differences between colleges, universities & technical schools & discuss which type might be right for them. Local college representatives will discuss how to get accommodations in college & how to apply for financial aid. A panel of youth with disabilities will share their college experiences.
